  1. 1883    May: C┼╜zanne stays at LΓÇÖEstaque and explores the countryside around Marseilles and Aix with Monticelli.
  2.     End of December: Monet and Renoir visit C┼╜zanne at Aix. He works almost entirely in Provence until 1887.

  4. 1884    C┼╜zanne works in Aix and at LΓÇÖEstaque.

  6. 1885    He spends the first half of the year in Aix.
  7.     Spring: He has a brief and unhappy love affair and asks Zola to keep his correspondence for him.
  8.     15 June: He stays at RenoirΓÇÖs house at La Roche Guyon.
  9.     August: C┼╜zanne is in Aix, from where each day he travels to Gardanne, a village about 12km away, returning to the Jas de Bouffan every evening.

  12.     31 March: Following the publication of ZolaΓÇÖs novel LΓÇÖOeuvre, C┼╜zanne breaks with his friend.
  13.     28 April: C┼╜zanne marries Hortense Fiquet at Aix-en-Provence, thereby making their son legitimate. His parents attend the wedding.
  14.     23 October: C┼╜zanneΓÇÖs father dies.
  15.     17 December: Under the terms of their fatherΓÇÖs will, C┼╜zanne and his sisters are left a substantial sum.

  17. 1888:    January: Renoir makes a short visit to the Jas de Bouffan.
